hello, just thought I would write the list and report on problems I had when doing the sysinstall upgrade from 2.2.6 to 3.2. Any suggestions or comments on why these problems occurred or the best way to fix them will be appreciated. 1. upon booting the new kernel the first time I found that the root password was no longer valid. so I used the NEW method of booting into single user mode "set boot_single" (took a few tries to convince me that -s didn't work anymore). It seems that a different password scheme is being used?? all of the passwords no longer work?? mostly an annoyance. :0) still perplexed about that one. 2. even though you select the kernel sources to be upgraded.. a message tells you they will not be... but then some of them are copied to the src directory.... but I had to remove all the old and install again to get all the new stuff. (remember to save your config files). 3. KEYBOARD PROBLEM!!! This is still happening. every now and then when I reboot the box the keyboard is unusable.. I just get goofy characters on the screen when I type. I have to telnet in and shut it down.. this has happened 3 times in about 6 reboots 50/50 chance of the keyboard working.. it is a regular AT keytronics 104 keyboard on an abit AB-TX5 on bootup it shows "keyboard-mouse internal" whatever that means.. anyone know how to fix this?? 4. ghostscript had a problem finding one of its libraries (a.out) the path was listed in the linker (ld -R) but I dont know enough about that stuff to fill a thimble :0). anyway I rebuilt gs and XFree86 (contains the lib that was not found) and everything fell into place. well that was it.. all in all it went pretty well.. this is a production server and I haven't had any complaints yet this morning (knock wood). any replies/suggestions are welcome.. thanks and have a great day.
