My laptop can also soak 38 k with its built-in 16450, it's also a
sx/16.  At 115 kbps, ftp xfer rate will reach 7 ... 8 KB/s, means
about 75 % of the theoretical maximum (with h/w handshake).

Needless to say that the CPU is loaded then. :-)
