Brett, you hit the nail on the head with your concerns about ppl getting
burnt by older/vulnerable software being present on the cd's. And guess
what, YOU CAN HELP.

Find out all the vulnerabilities and bugs present in various
distributions, and whip up a script that checks for their presence on
your system.

Tell new users of freebsd to download said script, which will advise
them about known bugs and vulnerabilities present in 'x' distribution,
and what they are able to do to prevent them and/or patch them.

I'm sure if you put something decent enough together, Jordan or someone
else would be kind enough to add it to the FAQ.

So stop your complaining about previous versions. YES some contain buggy
and vulnerable software, but for the most part, they are still decent
releases. Go out and write those shell scripts now.

Nick
