The output of something like

  pkg_info | grep gaim
 =20
is usually more helpful, since it also shows the version of the FreeBSD
port you are using.

Hmm, nothing suspicious, IMO.

Could you please see whether you are running the very latest version of
the port (gaim-0.75_8 at the present)?
