I've built everything from ports.
In the last couple of weeks, I had the the slow starting panel also logging in 
with gdm, but it happened only twice.
That seems happening regularly using startx and sometimes all that applet are 
loaded, sometimes they are not.

I've found polkit-gnome-authen.core in /var/gdm, but it seems that this is 
dumped only on logoff when using gdm.
For what I can see, this is not happening running startx.

This is maybe not related to the problem, but trying to look in polkit-gnome-
authorization policies, it crashed when I checked "Show authorizations from all 
users" on a policy where an explicit authorization was granted to a user that 
in the meanwhile has been deleted from the system.
