For the -small record, I thought I'd post a link to
the following -current post from Colin Percival (he's
done a lot of work on binary updates for FreeBSD). 
It sounds like his "pkg_delete" approach might be
of interest to those looking at doing sysgens that
subtract out unneeded stuff, I take it he's defining
packages for the purpose of deleting things...
