If you just link /usr/ports/distfiles to the cdrom, any port which has to fetch a distfile from the net will fall flat on its face with a not-so-helpful error. That said, the correct thing to do is fix bsd.port.mk to automagically check /cdrom/ports/distfiles before marching off to the net to find things. Then you wouldn't need to link anything and the documentation would be much cleaner.
