I bet I'm going to sound like the pot calling the kettle black, given that I added the PPP extensions to getty, but "Is there a reason for this being added to the base-level getty when we have a plethora of enhanced-functionality getty ports already available and supported?" (i.e. we made an unconscious decision to NOT add modem initialization crud into our getty for several years, why change now?)
