If you started X-window,by using a window manager or a desktop environment,normally it uses virtual screen #10 (you can change the virtual screens in the /etc/ttys file). So remember that in case you switch to any of the virtual screens 0 to 7,if you want to resume your X session (your window manager or desktop environment), you have to press Alt-F10.
