TFJI, Justin. I'm glad we've got a _real_ geek showing up here :-), and
I look forward to FreeBSD winning the SPECvideo challenge *next* year.
This year, we need small-file-serving performance from our disks, which
is a benefit to FreeBSD in general, inasmuch as all our big programs are
actually lots of little ones.

I think the question is moot, since as I said earlier, I've decided to
try for flash drives, but it's still a valid FreeBSD architecture
question that should be answered.
