Although I personally try to use the correct name, and am more
than willing to correct inappropriate references, on the whole I
think it is a lost battle.

Also, out of curiosity, other than the fact that it isn't on the
list of "appropriate names", what are the arguments against the
name "X Windows"?

Among X propeller heads, "X" or "X11" is well understood, but
when more clarification is needed, the full name just doesn't
roll off the tounge very well.
