I use avidemux2 to generate the cut points (in my case, I'm cutting out commercials, etc.) but I've found that avidemux2 has A/V sync problems when you try to save, so I use multimedia/dvbcut to do the actual cuts. The nice thing about dvbcut is it will only recode frames if the cut endpoints aren't at keyframes.. but between remaining keyframes, it performs a flawless copy. Unfortunately dvbcut's UI is difficult to use, especially for marking the cut points. So I use avidemux2 to mark the cut spots, save the project, and I have a python program which converts avidemux2 project files into dvbcut project files. I've also been requantizing the video to DVD quality because my tuner card records at broadcast quality MPEG2 (15 Mbit/s) which is too high for DVD.. For this, I use another python script which uses a combination of mpgtx, lame, ffmpeg, transcode, and mjpegtools and also converts the MP2 into AC3. -- Rick C. Petty
