Balansag" Subject: error when installing world Mime-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: text/plain; charset="us-ascii" Sender: owner-freebsd-questions@FreeBSD.ORG Precedence: bulk List-ID: List-Archive: (Web Archive) List-Help: (List Instructions) List-Subscribe: List-Unsubscribe: X-Loop: FreeBSD.ORG hello. i was wondering where i erred. i was trying to upgrade from 4.4 release to 4-stable, and followed instructions from /usr/src/UPDATING. this was what i did: make buildworld make buildkernel KERNCONF=MY_KERNEL_HERE make installkernel KERNCONF=MY_KERNEL_HERE reboot to single user mode then, when i 'make installworld' , the command executes up to the portion 'bin/cat', wherein i get the following messages: ===> bin ===> bin/cat install -c -s -o root -g wheel -m 555 cat/bin /usr/obj/usr/src/i386/usr/libexec/elf/strip : /bin/stqN7ZOg : Operation not permitted *** Error code 70 Stop in /usr/src/bin/cat. *** Error code 1 Stop in /usr/src/bin. *** Error code 1 Stop in /usr/src. *** Error code 1 Stop in /usr/src. *** Error code 1 Stop in /usr/src i am at a loss as to what file to change permission, if any..... i'm a complete newbie, and i kinda wanted to experiment and learn as much as i can... tia.
