I've run FreeBSD on a 386SX20 with 8Mb of RAM, and a 200 Mb hard drive.
All it was doing was being a DNS server and POP3 post office for a
small, 8
user, office.  Rather slow but it worked!  Choose the smallest possible
install
and add stuff as needed.
