Your average smartphone user will ignore the concept of a mailing list, and the great part of the under 25 (or those whose only contact with the interweb is and has been by smartphone) will probably ignore the concept of email altogether. For those of you who have taken part in this thread saying (paraphrasing) "Yes, I know there are long-established conventions, but I don't care because I'm above all that", for you there's Zoom, Snapchat, Instagram, Twitter, Facebook.
