There's a section on USB mice in the FAQ. It's section 4.15. It talks about 
setting up the kernel, but I believe that generic kernel is already set up 
for it.

Once the USB mouse is setup for moused, then XFree86 will work without any 
additional configuration, if you set it to use /dev/sysmouse as normal.
