that was interesting.  X still doesn't werk, but has a new
red envelope (email?) icon.

i think i will try

#portupgrade -afp

now. i know this is half c*@&#ed, but i am having scotch.  could try
man pages can't run any browsers, unless somebody has a lynx-friendly
link to try.
