Yes, of course, some old timers have devised hacks and tricks to make due
without ever using PORTEPOCH, which are, mostly, but not entierly, either
bad or good.

Now, the point was that a new committer doesn't have the experience to do
so, and thus, can follow the manual, because the manual is right, you use
PORTEPOCH when you need to.  Some people do feel it's ugly and they go at
great length to not use it, I have nothing against it.  But do not tell
someone it's wrong to use PORTEPOCH, it is ok to use it, when needed :-)
