Before you installworld you should mount your filesystems as
read-write. Looking at /usr/src/UPDATING you'll see the commands:
reboot in single user [3]
[3] From the bootblocks, boot -s, and then do
fsck -p
mount -u /
mount -a
cd /usr/src
adjkerntz -i # if COMS is wall time
And then `make installworld'.
