Hi, all.

I try to use HP Surestore 24e tape device with FreeBSD
4.8-STABLE
(built on Mon May 12 09:32:15 YEKST 2003).

I have a small experience with that device on Solaris.

The question I want to ask is - why system tells me

===Cut===
# mt -f /dev/sa0 status
mt: /dev/sa0: Device not configured
===Cut===

when there is no tape in it ? In Solaris there is more
appropriate
message - "Tape not loaded or drive offline".

Is it normal in FreeBSD ?

When the tape is inside - all is great.
