Is it always blk# 239 that it chokes on, or is it different blocks?
If it is always the same block then it's probably a bad sector.  In
this case I doubt that it is, since you have the same problem on a new
drive.

You either have a bad hard drive, cable, or controller.
If swapping the cable doesn't fix the problem, then I would throw
a different controller in.
