Still having some issues with my sound card. Both "device pcm" and the
commercial "oss" drivers do detect the card, but both have errors in the
input/output -- the samples are distorted and broken into noise/silence
parts.

Does anyone have any similar things on their laptop/chips?

Following is some info that may help...

   device pcm0 at pci? irq 9 drq 1 flags 0x00

   pcm0ss=0x040100 card=0x8100104d chip=0x24858086 rev=0x02 hdr=0x00
     vendor   = 'Intel Corporation'
     device   = '82801CA/CAM (ICH3-S/ICH3-M) AC'97 Audio Controller'
     class    = multimedia
     subclass = audio

   pcm0: <Intel 82801CA (ICH3)> port 0x18c0-0x18ff,0x1c00-0x1cff irq 9 at device 31.5 on pci0
