No, it's not supposed to happen, but it is unfortunately what does
happen at the moment.

Exactly.  As far as we can tell, these are badly configured autoreplies,
and nothing more harmful than that.  The FreeBSD postmaster is aware
that this is happening, but can't do much about it unless the addresses
subscribed to the list that feed into these autoreplies can be tracked
down.  And that unfortunately isn't that easy.
