I suspect that people using ISDN in the US have more or less standardized
on TAs or ISDN routers.

I have seen a report that someone is going to work on adding support for
US protocols to the next generation of bisdn (aka i4b = isdn4bsd). Don't
wait for this, though. Get a TA or ISDN router.
