The idea behind the previous version was that the linux code doesn't=20=20
create=20it's own cache (to not have to run the linux fc-cache on each=20=
=20
change=20in the fonts directories) but to use the FreeBSD cache via=20=20
fall-through.=20This only works when the linux fontconfig and the=20=20
FreeBSD=20fontconfig are compatible enough in terms of cache directory=20=
=20
file=20format. I remember to have updated the linux fontconfig port with=20=
=20
a=20own hand-rolled linux-version of fontconfig in the past as the=20=20
linux_base=20at that time didn't had a compatible enough fontconfig=20=20
version=20(but I don't remember if the config file was incompatible or=20=
=20
the=20cache...).

Could it be that a simple ln of the linux /var/db/fontconfig to the=20=20
FreeBSD=20location would solve this issue without the need to run the=20=20
linux=20fc-cache on each font directory change?

Bye,
Alexander.
