x11/xorg depends on x11/xorg-clients which in turn has a run-time dependency
on x11/xterm, so xterm should get installed when you install x11/xorg.
(And since a couple of months ago x11/xterm no longer installs
/usr/X11R6/bin/xterm-static, but just /usr/X11R6/bin/xterm (no symlinks
needed anymore.))
Do you have any stale bits in the ports tree, or under /usr/X11R6 ?
