First, you'll need to add a STRIP= to gdm2's Makefile or to the make
line.  If you don't, all the binaries will be stripped of debugging
symbols at install time.

Find the process that's spinning after you enter your username, then
attach gdb to it.  You should then be able to get a backtrace.
