i will try the patch tomorrow if it's not to late.

but i think abiword has more problems:

in the evening i played around with ktrace.

after creating ~/NONE/lib/locale/de -> /usr/X.../locale/de
i got something like this: (as far as i can rememeber)

/usr/home/klammer/NONE/usr/home/klammer/NONE/lib/locale/de_DE.iso88591/LC_MESSAGES/gtk20.mo

maybe not exactly this but it is a good example.
