I'm not sure about gcc-2.8.1, but when you install the latest =
egcs(gcc-2.95.2) the port installs the executables into /usr/local/bin =
followed by a major version number.  So calling gcc or g++ would still =
run the system default compiler, but typing something like "gcc295 =
filename.c" or "g++295 filename.cc" will call the 2.95.2 version.
