	Are you root when you do this? If not, have
   you changed the permissions on /dev/acd?? to
   allow non-root access?

	I see you tried both CD's. I had a similiar
   problem, and it turned out I had hardwired the
   busses, so the drives weren't what I thought they
   should be. Now they are hardwired to suite my
   counting practices. :-)
