Dirk, that seems to have done the trick (pkg_deinstall tcl, reinstall + 
install tk).  How would tcl have become corrupted during install and 
have installed correctly?  You know, I do believe that tcl may have 
been installed as a pkg during the 5.3 beta install, so perhaps that 
could have been the issue?  Perhaps a slightly older revision and thus 
some problem?
