What appropriate parameters? FWIW: when I used the custom floppy mentioned in my original post, I had to start a emergecy holgraphic shell, then "wicontrol -i wi0 3" (or something like that). Then the NIC appeared in the list of interfaces. This worked both for DHCP and for manual configuration of the IP, netmask, etc. With the exception of the wicontrol command, which I expect can be automated, this is what I would expect people eventually want (i.e. seamless).
