you may want to get the iso and burn to cd (recommend that actually).
You can dl it here :
ftp://ftp.FreeBSD.org/pub/FreeBSD/releases/i386/ISO-IMAGES/4.4/
Burn that to cd and you shouldnt have problems booting (if your bios
allows it) and beginning the installation process....hopefully:)
