OK I am an absolute freebsd pre-newbie (I haven't even installed it yet) and I just subscribed to some listserves as a preliminary preparation and I came in the middle of this conversation but here goes anyway. This whole attitude of "I was just kidding and laughing when I said your baby was ugly" business is crap. It's not right to come to a freebsd board (questions no less) and go on some tirade about how much freebsd sucks or NT rulez. If that's your opinion then great! go use NT and leave, nobody is forcing you to do anything. It's not your place to come here tell everybody how much their choice of operating system sucks. I don't believe you when you say you were laughing and kidding I think you are a troll and a nasty person who wants to argue just to argue and who likes to hear himself speak (figuratively of course). It's obvious you enjoy insulting people and aggravating them rather then trying to help somebody. As far as I know (not much) this forum is for asking and answering question. Either ask your question, take the time out to help somebody or shut up. As for your main point. I know that there are a lot of stupid and foolish people in the world, and god knows I have run into plenty of stupid and foolish business people. But any person who goes shopping for a unix solution from Microsoft has got to be the stupidest of the stupid. When Sun, HP, IBM, Compaq/digital, SGI etc have decades of Unix experience and have the state of the art unix hardware and software. Going to MS and having to rely on some halfway solution would be enough to trigger a herd of shareholder lawsuits. Besides it would be a supreme embarassment to microsoft to admit that NT does not cut it. MS has been saying (lying actually but for MS there is no difference between lying and speaking) for years that NT was a better unix then unix and now to backtrack from that 180 degrees and admit that NT can not solve all of your server problems would be a shameful act. The whole interix deal was not have a MS port of Unix it was to allow people to port their unix apps to NT and maybe in the interim run it on NT during the transition. Anybody who thinks they can run an enterprise app under unix emulation in NT needs to immediately canned by their shareholders (along with all those CEOS who think they can sue MS if something goes wrong). ---------------------------------------------- Tim Uckun Mobile Intelligence Unit. ---------------------------------------------- "There are some who call me TIM?" ---------------------------------------------- To Unsubscribe: send mail to majordomo@FreeBSD.org with "unsubscribe freebsd-questions" in the body of the message
