Kevin: Thanks for the kind reply....and you are right, of course!

I had not been advised of what would happen when the switchover was made. I
braced for the change & brushed up on all of the DSL docs before the event
and saw where an ISP MIGHT use PPPoE... so, I was caught by surprise.

I had already talked to no less than 4 or 5 techs since yesterday and not a
single one knew any of this stuff. I guess they assumed I knew. Only by luck
this morning I talked to the second Tech of this day and read off the debug
log as I ran a connection that mentioned "PPPoE" and she caught it. Then, as
a bolt of lightning, it all came together for me.... easy stuff now. Just
like being on a network.... it answers even more questions I have for later
configs.... ie, multi-webservers.

Best regards,
Jack L. Stone

If you have static IPs assigned, you almost certainly aren't doing PPPoE
any more. (I suppose it's possible, but I've never seen it done).

You just want to pretend you are on a LAN and set up normal Ethernet
networking using the IP address, netmask, and gateway address you were
given by your ISP.
