Hi,

if you use tcsh:

set prompt = '[%B%m%b] %B%~%b%# '

I've used FreeBSD for years and just a few weeks ago logged into a
friends' relatively recent install and the fortune(6) program gave me an
insightful hint for a "nice tcsh prompt". It has become my default prompt
everywhere since.
