zpool(8) for stable/11 does mention "zpool remove". Don't know if it's 
implemented.

Just fire up a VM and take it for spin.

I doubt it, the command has been implemented for awhile now, but is only
for removing hot spares, cache, and log devices.


It is great that work is being done for this though!
