During the great Backbone Cabal wars [0] [1], I learned a couple of rules:

		1. The first person to resort to negatively comparing the
other side to Hitler or the Nazis automatically loses the argument.

		2. The first person to resort to using ad hominem attacks
(e.g., calling someone "infantile") automatically loses the argument.

Now, I'll make a deal with you. You tell me when you first
learned your version of these rules on the 'net -- if that was before
1986 I'll be perfectly happy to switch to using your version of the
rules for any discussion(s) I may (or may not) have with you in the
future. Sound fair enough?

[0] See <http://www.tuxedo.org/~esr/jargon/jargon.html#backbone%20cabal>.

[1] I was just one of many thousands of undergrad CS students. I'm
sure you wouldn't remember me. ESR says that it broke up in late
1988, but my personal recollection was that it was heaviest in 1986.
Maybe that's just when I was most active in that battle.

Unix is like a wigwam -- no Gates, no Windows, and an Apache inside.
Unix is very user-friendly. It's just picky who its friends are.
