I decided that I wanted to try the amd64 laptops with cardbus, express card and SD slot. And I wanted to buy it from the shops locally on saturday. This means I went with a big, and kinda bulky laptop from HP the dv5140us. It was a bunch cheaper than the lifebook I was looking at, and didn't have a two week lead time for the model that I wanted. Maybe I'll get one of them next year :-) Alas, FreeBSD doesn't perfectly support this laptop. I got lucky with X, since the ATI part that in here just worked. The wireless card and the sound card appear to not have drivers. I was wondering what my options were for them: none4@pci6:2:0: class=0x028000 card=0x1358103c chip=0x431914e4 rev=0x02 hdr=0x00 vendor = 'Broadcom Corporation' class = network (I'm guessing I'll have to do ndis for this one) none1@pci0:20:5: class=0x040100 card=0x30a4103c chip=0x43701002 rev=0x02 hdr=0x00 vendor = 'ATI Technologies Inc' class = multimedia subclass = audio am I SOL on this and need to get the pcmcia/cardbus sound cards in my collection working?
