Have you tried loading the module at boot time w/ loader.conf? I
was just looking at one of my machines that should be supported by
amdtemp, but hostb had already attached to it:
hostb4@pci0:0:24:3:     class=0x060000 card=0x00000000 chip=0x16031022 rev=0x00 hdr=0x00
    vendor = 'Advanced Micro Devices [AMD]'
    device     = 'Family 15h Processor Function 3'
    class      = bridge
    subclass   = HOST-PCI

I haven't done this yet, as my other machine that isn't in production
isn't supported by amdtemp, but looks like it may suffer the same issue:
hostb4@pci0:0:24:3:     class=0x060000 card=0x00000000 chip=0x14031022 rev=0x00 hdr=0x00
    vendor = 'Advanced Micro Devices [AMD]'
    device     = 'Family 15h (Models 10h-1fh) Processor Function 3'
    class      = bridge
    subclass   = HOST-PCI
