I didn't know this would be of general interest, but I just send out
a reply to Donald telling him about a working version of minicom 1.60.

I never bothered with the newer versions, and this one still works
I just checked it. I only had to add an include of <runetype.h>
in port.h

If anyone wants to hack at it, to see what the differences are between 
this version and the newest, take a look at:
