I often use vi.  :-)  You could also try asWedit - it's in the ports tree:

	/usr/ports/www/aswedit

It's a nice little HTML editor and seems (the last time I remember trying
anyway) to validate to 3.0 and maybe 4.0.   I could be misremembering
though.  Emacs also has a HTML mode as I recall.
