Subject: Panic (Fatal trap 12)
Message-ID: <20040114202434.O631@thor.farley.org>

next in thread | raw e-mail | index | archive | help
I have been getting reboots of my box occassionaly under 4-STABLE for
awhile, and I would like some help trying to track it down.

Hardware:
1. Soltek 75DRV5.
2. 512MB Crucial unbuffered ECC memory
3. Ti4200 nVidia card

Software:
FreeBSD thor.farley.org 4.9-STABLE FreeBSD 4.9-STABLE #0: Wed Dec 31
21:03:53 CST 2003 root@thor.farley.org:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/THOR
i386

Things I have tried:
1. Looked for leaking capacitors. None found.
2. Ran memtest for about two days. No errors found.
3. Swapped out video card with another card. No help here.
4. With and without nVidia's driver. Bummer.
5. Reseated all components. No luck here.

Two different panics I have saved are attached at the end. They can
happen under load or without.

As with the first panic, the second panic had this in /var/log/messages:
Jan 14 19:06:06 thor /kernel: with interrupts disabled
Jan 14 19:06:06 thor /kernel: kernel trap 9 with interrupts disabled
Jan 14 19:06:06 thor last message repeated 24 times
=2E..
<a bunch of garbage after a lot of these messages>
=2E..
Jan 14 19:49:10 thor /kernel: kernel trap 9 with interrupts disabled
Jan 14 19:49:10 thor last message repeated 24 times
Jan 14 19:49:10 thor /kernel: with interrupts disabled
<panic>

Panic 1 occurred when I tried to start Linux version of ArmyOps (game).
Panic 2 occurred while I was away from my computer. xscreensaver was
running, but the monitor had probably powered down as I was away from
the computer for about an hour.

Does anyone see what the problem may be?
