hope i can help you, let's try... :-)

what version of X-libraries do you have installed?
the latest version should have installed is 4.2.1-7.
Xft has been removed from the X-library-port with the 
last commit and you must install it from ports.
normally this should be done automatically if everything
is correct.

if not already done, cvsup your ports tree to the latest
version, and (re-)install X, Xft, freetype2 and to be
safe also fontconfig.
