Most of the other bits of code conditioned on COMPAT_43 are binary compatibility with 4.3 system calls for Suns and VAXen, and really could be done without for i386es, since those 4.3 system calls were never used on the i386 platform (having been superseded before the i386 port was done). -GAWollman -- Garrett A.
