This is fairly normal on combination IDE/SCSI systems.  Boot the boot
floppy and type

sd(0,a)/kernel

At the boot: prompt, assuming FreeBSD is on the disk identified as sd0.  

Once you get up, rebuild your kernel and change the 'kernel' line in the
configfile to match the location of the kernel.
