I am attempting to install FreeBSD to a Quantum 1Gb SCSI-2 drive, but
after I finish downloading the OS and reboot, it tries to mount the
partition and then stops with a "Panic: cannot mount" error and reboots.
However, if I load the OS onto one of the IDE drives in the system, I
can boot and work in FreeBSD just fine. My system looks like this:

Pentium 200 MMX
Tyan Tomcat III Dual CPU
128Mb EDO RAM
Adaptec 2940UW
Quantum 3.2Gb EIDE (Pri. Master)
WD 1.6 Gb EIDE (Pri. Slave)
Quantum 245Mb IDE (Sec. Master)
IBM 4.2 Gb SCSI-3 (SCSI Id. 2)
Toshiba 15X CD-ROM (SCSI Id 0)
Ricoh CD-RW (SCSI Id 1)
HP T-4000 External Tape Drive (SCSI Id 4)
Iomega ZIP External (SCSI Id 5)
SB AWE 64 Gold
Microsoft InPort Mouse (Com 2 settings)
USR External 56K (COM 1)
NE2000-comp. Ethernet (IRQ 10, I/O 300)
Diamond Stealth 3D 3000 4Mb VRAM
Diamond Monster 3D
Operating Systems:
Windows 95
Windows NT 4.0 Server
Windows NT 5.0 Workstation
MS-DOS 6.22 w/ Windows 3.11

I am also using System Command 4.0 Deluxe to manage them all. I have
checked the drive for any defects and have found none. I have even gone
as far as to low-level format the drive from my 2940UW and the problem
still persisted.

I also had problems trying to get the Xfree86 setup to recognize my
InPort mouse. I gave it all the right settings and it still didn't work.
What mouse protocol should I be using? I have tried both BusMouse and
Microsoft.

Help!
