FreeBSD Systems Administrator



Purpose:


NEP Broadcasting, LLC., with headquarters in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania =20=

and offices in California and New York, is known worldwide as a =20
quality provider of broadcast management services.  NEP's divisions =20
include the following:  NEP Supershooters is the premier provider of =20
mobile television units; NEP Denali is the premier provider of mobile =20=

television units geared toward entertainment events; NEP Visions is =20
the premier provider of mobile television units in the European =20
marketplace; NEP Screenworks, located in California, is the world's =20
largest provider of mobile and modular Jumbotron and LED daylight =20
video screens and NEP Studios is the largest teleproduction service =20

The purpose of this position is to grow and maintain a multiple =20
location, computer network along with managing the server =20
infrastructure that is currently running Unix and Unix based variants =20=

(FreeBSD) supporting 500+ users.


Position Responsibilities:

=B7       Maintains a multi-server network in a mixed OS environment =20
with minimal downtime across multiple locations.

=B7       Responsible for all systems administration duties including =20=

but not limited to architecture, maintenance, and support of primarily =20=

Unix based (FreeBSD) application, database, file and email servers.

=B7       Conducts performance monitoring and provides appropriate =20
system modifications to guarantee responsive system uptime and =20
performance. Including system failure analysis and recovery; insuring =20=

the consistency and integrity of file systems.

=B7       Tests and deploys relevant software updates at most current =20=

and stable releases including the ability to write scripts to automate =20=

administration tasks.

=B7       Coordinates the implementation of computer systems with =20
company personnel and outside vendors.

=B7       Responsible for all upgrades and repairs to the LAN/WAN.

=B7       Provides 2nd tier technical support to employees and other IT =20=

staff members.

=B7       Manages and maintains daily backup of critical systems and =20
monitors the performance and resources of the system network.

=B7       Develops policies and procedures to safeguard computer files =20=

against unauthorized modification, destruction, or disclosure.  =20
Including the use of virus protection software and other commercial =20
software to maintain the network and system security.

=B7       Creates backup strategies to meet business data recovery needs =
=20
and optimize system performance.

=B7       Responsible for writing reports that document computer =20
security, IT focused policies and procedures, and testing results.

=B7       Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

=B7       Bachelor's degree in computer science desired.

=B7       At least 3 years experience with maintaining all aspects of a =20=

comparably sized network.

=B7       Heavy experience with UNIX systems, deployment, maintenance, =20=

and troubleshooting.

=B7       Understanding of TCP/IP protocols, script writing and =20
maintenance skills (e.g., shell, perl, PHP), administrative =20
familiarity with relevant technologies (e.g. SSH, Apache, Mysql).

=B7       Network Experience

=B7       Strong experience with system management tools, logical file =20=

systems and client/server environments.

=B7       Excellent communication and customer service skills along with =
=20
well developed problem solving and analytical skills.
