You never assume anything works off of the shelf on computers. This is especially true when the major market is MS Windows based and you have all of the various half_brain_dead win-devices. I have an HP-8100 and burncd works just fine on 4.0-Stable. There are many other people with other brands such as Yamaha's and etc. The 8100 didn't work on 4.0-Release because of idiosyncrasies in the HP. I haven't seen anything equivalent to DirectCD, which assumes you could "cp something /dev/acd0c" (the CDROM IDE device). That doesn't mean it doesn't exist. I haven't looked. I've never seen anything really complicated that you simply copy to a device and don't have any idea if such a program exists.
