Thats such a bogus issue.

IIRC there are ports that do the same thing (automatic snarfing of
cleartext passwords from tcp streams.)

And if it isn't a port yet I'm sure someone will come out of the woodwork
and make it one.

Regardless, -x solves 90% of the issues that cause me to have to use
tcpdump | tcpshow right now.
